Finally, a circuit simulator custom-made for pedal builders.
Draw your pedal, or add ready-made gain stages and tone stacks. Press the big Run button and hear a real guitar play through it. You won't have to jump through the hoops most circuit simulators make you jump through.
There's nothing to install. You don't have to hunt for model files, and you won't get error messages you have to look up in a forum.
Every new account gets 7 days of Pro free, and you don't need a credit card.
Draw it, run it, and hear it.
You draw the circuit, press Run to see what it's doing, and then play a real guitar through it. The whole thing is made to be so easy that you shouldn't ever need the help guide, though it's there if you want it.
Draw it
Drag parts from the toolbar on the left and wire them up. Every part is one you'd use in a pedal, so there's no giant parts list to dig through. Type values the way you already write them, like 4k7, 4.7k, or 100n. The pots come in audio, linear, reverse audio, W taper, and trim, so what you draw is what you'll build. Start with a blank page, or open up a starter circuit - a simplified Tube Screamer style, an OD1-style, or an OD250-style circuit.
Run it
Most circuit simulators make you jump through a lot of hoops just to see what your circuit is doing. With PedalSpice, there's one big button that says Run. Click it, and the frequency curve and the waveform pop up instantly, showing you exactly what your circuit is doing to your sound. Checking your voltages and impedances couldn't be easier. They're one click away, right on the drawing.
Hear it
Pick one of the recorded guitar clips, with both lead and rhythm parts, or upload a clip of you playing your own guitar. It plays through the circuit you drew and then into an amp made with NAM (Neural Amp Modeler), one of the most accurate ways to copy the sound of a real amp. Use the amps that come with it, or load your own NAM amp file. You can get thousands of them free at TONE3000.com. Turn a knob, play it again, and you'll hear the same change you saw on the screen.
Drop it in
Why draw a gain stage you've drawn a thousand times before? Click Circuit Blocks, put the block where you want it in your circuit, and it wires itself in. Or open the circuit calculators to quickly and easily change the values on many common circuit blocks, then put that changed block into your drawing automatically. Pro and trial.
Here's what you can do with it.
-
You can tune a circuit by ear and put it right in your drawing. Pro and trial
This saves you more time than anything else in the app. There are sixteen calculators built in for tone stacks, gain stages, mid scoops, and more, and we add more every month for subscribers. Move the sliders and the curve changes as you go, so you don't have to do math by hand or redraw the circuit every time you want to try a new value. When it sounds right, press Send to Pedal Spice and click where you want it. It shows up in your drawing with the values already filled in.
-
You don't have to draw the same gain stage for the hundredth time.
Pick one of six gain stages or six tone stacks, and we add more every month for subscribers. Click where you want it. You can put it in an empty spot, on a wire, or on a connection dot, and the rest of your circuit moves over to make room, so you don't have to redraw anything.
-
You can save your favorite circuits for your next build. Pro and trial
When a circuit sounds just the way you like it, save it to My Blocks. It shows up at the top of your Circuit Blocks menu, so the tone stack you spent a whole evening on is one click away on every pedal after that.
-
The pots and switches work like the ones you buy.
The knobs look and turn like real knobs. The pots use real tapers, and the switches can have one, two, or three poles. Turn a knob or flip a switch and watch what changes. Double-click a knob to set it back to noon.
-
It tells you what's wrong in plain English and shows you where.
If a leg isn't hooked up, there's no ground, or an op amp has no bias, it tells you in plain words and lights up the part. You won't have to search the whole drawing, and you won't have to figure out an error message written for engineers.
-
You can try three values at once instead of swapping parts one at a time.
Type in 47k, 100k, and 220k, and you'll see all three curves on one graph with a table of the numbers under it. You can also freeze a result and compare your next idea to it.
-
You'll know what your meter should read before you pick up the soldering iron.
It shows the DC voltage at every point right on your drawing, plus the input and output impedance. You can even type in the drain voltage you want, and it sets the trimmer for you, so you skip the guesswork.
-
You can hear your own playing through your own amp.
Upload a clip of your own playing, or use one of the lead and rhythm clips that come with it. Hear it through one of the NAM amps that come with it, or load your own NAM amp file and hear your circuit through your own amp. You can get thousands of free amp files at TONE3000.com.
-
Your friends can turn the knobs on your circuit.
Send your circuit as a link. Whoever opens it can turn the knobs and press Run. That's much better than posting a screenshot in a Facebook group and hoping someone can read it.
-
You can go from your drawing to your parts order in one sitting.
Get a clear schematic as a PDF to print, and a parts list with a buy link for every part. You won't have to type part numbers into a cart, or find out halfway through the build that you missed a part.
-
You don't have to draw your circuit twice to make a circuit board. Pro and trial
When your circuit sounds the way you want it, press Export for KiCad (beta). Every part and every connection you drew goes into KiCad's board editor, and each part already has its footprint picked. You won't have to draw the schematic again or pick footprints one part at a time. You place the parts and draw the traces, and the board matches the circuit you already heard through a real amp.

Ask about Pedal Spice for TeamsHere's what people want to know first.
What is PedalSpice?
PedalSpice is a guitar pedal circuit simulator that works in your web browser. You draw your pedal circuit, press Run, and see the frequency curve and the voltages. Then you play a real guitar through what you drew, so you can hear your idea before you spend a dime on parts.
Is there an easier way to simulate a guitar pedal than LTspice?
Yes. PedalSpice was made for pedal builders, so the parts, pots, and switches you need are already in it, and we add more parts every month. There's one big Run button and nothing else to set up, and you hear a real guitar through your circuit instead of just looking at a graph. If you've ever given up on LTspice, this was made for you.
Can I hear what my pedal sounds like before I build it?
Yes, and it sounds like a real guitar through a real amp, because that's what it is. Pick one of the recorded guitar clips, with both lead and rhythm parts, or upload a clip of you playing your own guitar. Your playing goes through the circuit you drew and then into an amp made with NAM (Neural Amp Modeler), one of the most accurate ways to copy the sound of a real amp. Use the amps that come with it, or load your own NAM amp file. You can get thousands of them free at TONE3000.com, so you can hear your pedal in front of almost any amp you can think of. Turn a knob, play it again, and you'll hear the same change you saw on the screen, all before you order a single part.
Is the simulation accurate, or just a rough idea?
It's accurate. PedalSpice runs a real SPICE simulation, the same kind of circuit math engineers use, and the part models come from the makers' own published data. The curves and voltages you see come from actually working out the circuit you drew. You'll still want to breadboard it to know for sure, but you'll know first whether the idea is worth building.
Is PedalSpice free?
Yes. There's a Free plan you can keep as long as you want. Every new account also gets 7 days of Pro free first, and you don't need a credit card.
Draw it, Hear it, Perfect it - Before you build it
Open the Tube Screamer core, change one part, and play a guitar clip through it. You'll still want to breadboard it to know for sure, but you'll know whether the idea is worth your parts and your evening before you spend either one.
