About

PedalSpice was built by a pedal designer.

It's a circuit simulator for guitar pedal builders, and it exists because the tools that came before it were never made for the way pedal people work.

Brian Wampler, founder of Wampler Pedals

I'm Brian Wampler. I started Wampler Pedals over twenty years ago, and I've spent that whole time designing guitar pedals, including pedals for some well-known artists.

Every time I had a new idea, I had the same two choices everybody else has. I could breadboard it, which tells you what it sounds like, but it takes an afternoon and it never tells you why it sounds that way. Or I could open a circuit simulator, and every one of those was built for engineers. It could tell me why, if I was willing to fight with it, but it was a lot of work just to hear anything.

So I built the simulator I always wanted. It only does pedal circuits. You draw the circuit the way you'd sketch it on paper, press Run, and play a real guitar clip through it. Then you change a part and hear what that part actually does.

It doesn't replace your bench, and it isn't supposed to. It just means that by the time you pick up the iron, you already know the circuit is worth building.

Who it's for

If you build pedals, mod pedals, or just want to understand why a circuit sounds the way it does, this is for you. You don't need to know SPICE, and you don't need to be an engineer. If you can draw a circuit and you want to hear it before you solder it, you're in the right place.

Where it comes from

I also run GuitarPedalCourse.com, where I teach guitar players how pedal circuits work. The circuit blocks inside PedalSpice come straight from the way I teach there: you learn a pedal one working section at a time, and you learn each section by ear.

Who's behind it

PedalSpice is owned by the Wampler Pedals company, so that's the name you'll see on your card statement if you go Pro. If you ever have a question, the contact page comes straight to us.

Try it on a circuit you already know.

Open the Tube Screamer starter, change one part, and play a guitar clip through it. It takes about a minute to hear what that part does.

Every new account gets 7 days of Pro free, and you don't need a credit card.
